Butter + Bow: Our Story
The journey of Butter + Bow is a deeply personal one. Growing up in a Chinese family that loved to host, cook, and bake, I’ve always been inspired by food’s ability to tell stories and bring people together. The most meaningful gifts are the ones made with intention—where every bite, every scent, and every detail tells a story.
But Butter + Bow is about the thoughtfulness behind every gift. We create handcrafted gifting experiences that feel rare, intentional, and deeply personal. Unlike mass-produced gift boxes filled with things you might not use, our offerings are designed to be used, enjoyed, and remembered. Every product—whether it’s a luxury cookie box, a handcrafted candle, or a wellness-inspired treat—is chosen with purpose.
Every cookie we craft is rooted in this philosophy. Our signature brown butter chocolate chip cookie, made with Guittard super cookie chips and finished with Maldon sea salt, carries a family legacy—it’s a recipe from my sister, a San Francisco-trained pastry chef and owner of Dolce e Salato, a cookie shop in Hangzhou, China. Each cookie reflects a balance of flavor and technique, inspired by Michelin-level attention to ingredients and craft.
This philosophy of intentional craftsmanship extends beyond cookies. My mother has spent over 30 years running an aromatherapy company, dedicated to the art of blending natural, high-quality botanicals to enhance well-being. Her deep knowledge of pure essential oils and holistic self-care has shaped my own approach to Butter + Bow’s offerings. From our soothing shower steamers to calming aromatherapy rollers, every wellness-inspired product is crafted with the same dedication to quality and sensory experience that has been passed down through generations in my family.

Why Butter + Bow?
The name Butter + Bow reflects the heart of what we do and who we are. It represents our brand vision of creating something exceptional for someone exceptional.
Butter: Inspired by my son Charlie, a budding food enthusiast who could discern the quality of butter at only 18 months old. In fact, one of his first words might have been Kerrygold. Butter represents the richness and respect of using quality and simple ingredients in every cookie.
Bow: A nod to my daughter Charlotte, known for her oversized hair bows and fearless confidence. Her smile brightens a room. Bow symbolizes the joy of gifting, thoughtfully prepared for someone exceptional.
